EUKN-publication Multilevel Urban Governance or the Art of Working Together
In the past few years multilevel governance has been a much discussed topic, not only in academic debates but also in the European political arena. The “Multilevel Urban Governance Conference”, organised under the Belgian Presidency of the European Council on 2 December 2010, was a good example of the importance of this topic, and the right timing.
The conference focused on new methods for realising an integrated urban development strategy on all levels of government. Fifteen case studies from all over Europe were presented and discussed within the context of multilevel governance (MLG).
The cases dealt with projects and programmes in the fields of climate policy, integrated neighbourhood development, urban coproduction in strategic planning and products, employment policy, and social inclusion and poverty reduction.
